1500-year-old monastery in Bodrum awaits restoration

Located in the touristic Torba neighborhood of Bodrum, Muğla, a 1500-year-old historic monastery continues to struggle against time to avoid collapse. The vulnerable condition of the ancient structure and the lack of preservation deeply sadden everyone who visits the site.

Although an official restoration project was prepared for the building back in 2003, not a single nail has been driven into the monastery or its annexes since then. Observers and locals are calling for the historic site to be restored and opened up to cultural tourism.
