Mausoleum at Halicarnassus

The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus or Mausoleion was a monumental tomb built in Halicarnassus for King Mausolus by his wife and sister Artemisia, considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World, reminiscent of Greek architecture with its columns and Egyptian architecture with its pyramid-shaped roof. Because of this importance, all subsequent structures in the same style have been called mausoleums. The mausoleum area is arranged as an open-air museum today. When you enter, a Bodrum-type house is seen on the right. Inside the long building seen on the left, reliefs, models, some drawings related to the Mausoleion and architectural pieces belonging to the structure are exhibited.
